Gangai Konda Cholapuram, Tamil Nadu, South India. Did you know that the shadow of the 55m main tower of this Temple never falls on the ground? The Gangai Konda Cholisvara Temple was built by the Chola King Rajendra Chola I during 11 CE. Shortly afterwards, the Cholas shifted their capital from Thanjavur and ruled South India for 250 years, from here. An underground Tunnel that connects the Temple and Palace has been discovered, but now everything except the Temple is in ruins. No one knows why this (erstwhile) capital was abandoned. More…
