Some Interesting Houses in North Chennai

I went to a Photo Walk hosted by Chennai PhotoWalk, which is generally organized twice every month (most probably on 2nd and 4th Sundays). But be sure to check the above linked Facebook page for event intimations and details.

The walks are free of cost (at least now) and offer a good chance for budding photographers to learn, practice, and improve their craft. Everyone seems to have a DSLR in the group, but don’t worry if you don’t have one – I didn’t! 🙂

Here are some photos (of interesting houses) I took during this week’s photo walk in North Chennai:

OK, the building in the last photo is a Jain Temple, not a house! 🙂

Some buildings are as old as fifty years..hmm. Good pics DI. I see that almost all the houses have pillars in the elevation. May be a trend in Chennai!
I see them rarely in Hyderabad.

I think old houses have pillars, or maybe it’s a style followed by builders in that area.

Indeed! I have seen many old building in villages bear the year they built.

Oh, I have noticed a few old buildings in small towns like that. But nowadays, not many people put the year of construction. But it may be a good idea to do that.

Nice. I was looking forward to seeing some ancient colonial type buildings, but I guess they all must have been taken down.

Some are there, but I didn’t spot many in the route we took.

Interesting walk…the 7th pic is especially nice!

I should have gone to the front and taken another clear pic, but laziness got the better of me! Next time I should be careful about these things.

These photowalks are a great way to learn about a particular place and of course, photography! Quite a few of my friends are members of various photography clubs and they travel in and around the city for photowalks. Nice clicks!

So why don’t you also join one?
