My Bangalore Chronicles

So last week I went to Bangalore to attend the Green Summit 2015, Renewable Energy expo. I found a Solar Car (Car with embedded solar panels on the top) displayed by Manipal University and Tata Power Solar. I hope we’ll be able to buy such cars in the future.

From Chennai, I first went to Hyderabad to attend Manogna‘s marriage reception. Yeah, I do take efforts to retain blog readers πŸ˜› I met with our WRIMO group member Saikumar there. Guys, if you are in a mood of reading a good ‘revenge’ story, read this one written by him: Games That Men Play.Β

From there, I went to Bangalore. On the first day, I went to the exhibition. I took an auto to the venue. The auto guy was curious and asked me if he could come with me to the expo. I said OK and he became my assistant! πŸ™‚

On the second day I met the Harper Collins/Westland published Author Sharath Komarraju. If you have not read his book, ‘Murder in Amaravati‘, you are missing one of the best mysteries ever written by an Indian author. It’s that good!

On the third day, I went to Write Club, a meetup gathering organized by Sharath for authors and wannabe authors to improve their writing skills. Writers are given some tasks and some of them read their writings, while others critique it. Afterwards, we went to a nearby cafe for some informal chat. Skill development + Pleasure = Great combo! I wish there was a similar active group for authors in Chennai.

On the fourth day, I had two meetings scheduled, but had to cancel both as I was suffering from loose motion. I didn’t eat anything from yesterday morning to today evening and am surprised at how long I can go without eating food! I feel better now.

One thing I have noticed while requesting people to meet me is, Β most are enthusiastic and are willing to meet except young unmarried women (whom i know quite well through blogs, facebook, etc.). Madams, please be assured that these meetings are to exchange ideas/network/further my professional ambitions as an author — not any personal ones. But since I myself was wary of meeting people even a couple of years back, I can understand πŸ™‚

I am glad you had a wonderful time in Hyderabad and Bangalore. Congratulations to Manogna and her groom.

May be these young unmarried women were playing hard to get to gauge your interest – I mean interest in the subject matter you were going to discuss.

Sure now you are fully recovered.
If possible write more on this expo visit.
Yes, in future we will be able to drive such solar cars and may fly in solar planes also.

      Recovering . . .

More on the expo visit will be updated in my other blog: solarwindhydroenergy.com, that too only next week as this week I may not get time. I too hope Solar planes and cars will become commonplace soon enough πŸ™‚

Nice account of your travel and that’s great about the auto guy’s interest to visit expo. Being a auto drive he may connect well and some day he might convert his auto into solar power πŸ™‚
Hope you are back to normal. That’s something happens too many while travelling. Best wishes to the newly married.

Yes, the auto guy was too interested in solar cars. I told him about the Mahindra e20 electric car that can be charged by (separate) solar panels – who knows, he might start the first solar taxi of Bangalore! πŸ™‚

It is interesting to know that the auto driver was interested in solar power run vehicles.

If you have to skip food when you are away, have tender coconut water. It is good and full of nutrients too.

    Write more about this trip.

I am familiar with Manogna’s name. Best wishes to her and her husband!

I am drinking tender coconut water now, should have done it while I was there too. But I had mild fever so wasn’t sure if it was OK.

Dear Rajesh, It was really pleasant meeting you. The perceived image of a person whom you never met before is so different when you actually meet in person.( I expected to meet an middle aged serious kind of person). I am really looking forward to the solar car to hit the market, who knows I might buy one (if I can afford it :-P).
thanks for liking my short story.
about the young damsels …their bad luck if they could not meet you.
Hope you are recovered enough for the next travel where ever it is.

Yes, meeting people directly gives a different perspective about them, than just meeting them virtually. That’s why I am taking efforts to meet people whom I know only virtually – I think it creates stronger bonds/friendships.

Auto-wala becoming an assistant is so rare!

    1. Rajesh K

No problem. I don’t get invited to marriage receptions frequently nowadays anyway!
