DUNKIN’ DONUTS Chennai @ Phoenix Market City (Opening)
So today I went to the food-tasting workshop hosted by DUNKIN’ DONUTS at The Phoenix Market City, Velachery. DUNKIN’ DONUTS is officially opening to the public tomorrow (Saturday, May 23, 2015) and the first 500 customers get #365DaysOfDonuts: 365 coupons using which one can claim one free donut every day they eat something at DUNKIN’ DONUTS, over the next 365 days. I made one mistake before going to this workshop: I ate my breakfast!! π
Here are the officials and the chefs of DUNKIN’ DONUTS. They gave a presentation about their various specialty food items. As they introduced each item, they brought it (either a small piece or in full) and distributed it among all members present so that we can taste it! How I wish I had skipped my breakfast — I could have eaten more π
Did you know that DUNKIN’ DONUTS offers more than just donuts? In fact, they have burgers, sandwiches, wraps, iced teas, coffees, and of course many varieties of donuts. They say that they are in between QSR (Quick Service Restaurants) and Gourmet Restaurants. Their philosophy is to stay away from plasticity (perfection) and bring in (or admit) flaws, which even reflects in the names of their food items. Have a look at some food items we were served. (The one in the photo above is: Tough Guy Burger.)
Dunkaccino: Cold Coffee (Jamaican Run flavored & Almonds)
‘Brute’ Burger:
DUNKIN’ CAPPUCCINO:
Lemon Iced Tea:
My favorite among the ones I tasted were: Ugly Strawberry & It’s a Mistake (Guava, Chilli flakes) among Donuts; Dunkaccino (Cold Coffee). It seems customers also like chocolate-flavored donuts, but since I don’t prefer chocolate taste I didn’t taste them. The outlet at Phoenix mall is their first outlet in Chennai. If you are going there sometime, you may want to drop in and check it out! π

“It seems customers also like chocolate flavoured ones” – Chocolate is the most popular flavour in the world. Don’t go to a donut shop review if you don’t like chocolate.
Ha ha π But I don’t like the heavy over-sweet taste of chocolate flavor. I used to like it, but not anymore. Even the presenter said he doesn’t prefer chocolate flavor. I guess it’s got to do with the changing preferences with age.

Dunkin Donuts is one of the best in the United States. Very popular.
Yeah, I guess their HO is in the US too. Good that there is now one DUNKIN DONUTS outlet in Chennai too.

I donβt think I will like Donuts if I suppose to taste. But I could settle for their coffee π
One free donut every day concept sounds funny to me
One free donut everyday, if customers buy something else on that day. You should try the cold coffee I mentioned above — It’s very good π

My entire family loves these donuts. When it opened in Bangalore, there was a mad rush, as they announced that the first few hundreds would get a year’s supply of donuts free.
Yes, they have announced the same 365 free donuts scheme here in Chennai also!

One free sweet daily – Good marketing idea.

Yes, that marketing idea drew a good crowd to their outlet. I saw the photos on the opening day (in FB) and there were a considerable no. of people there!

Their food is yummy. But then, the guys behind the counter are so snooty :/ At least in Bangalore.
Thanks for your comment and observation π

My son loves donuts though I am not a big fan of these savory delights!
Children and young adults might like donuts more than adults, I guess.

Gosh that looks heavenly … I didn’t know they serve burgers too. That’s one awesome feast π
Yes, I was myself surprised that they serve other foods than donuts!
