WriteUpCafe, a social network for bloggers and authors, organized a bloggers meet @ the bicycle-themed restaurant: Ciclo Cafe, Kotturpuram, Chennai. Since it was at 7:30 A.M., I was a bit hesitant to go. But the offer of free food/desserts and meeting fellow bloggers was too inviting. So I went 🙂

The day started with slow bicycle race. Since I don’t remember when I cycled last, I didn’t attempt. I didn’t want to risk my falling-from-cycle photo getting featured on some blogger’s blog 😛 That reminds me of BSA SLR and Hercules MTB of my childhood days. How long I used to cycle for tuition and net browsing, back then… hmm…

Then we were given some cheese balls/nuggets while a few presenters took to the stage. First, Venkat from Tandora Networks spoke about how they are trying to connect artists/authors to the appropriate audience using big data technologies, among others. Next, the team from Young India (a subsidiary of CII) gave a presentation on the benefits of joining their network and participating in their events/initiatives.

We were given a few slices of pizza and desserts, of course. The cake was too good 🙂 Siddharth Iyer of WriteUpCafe.com gave a lively presentation. Bloggers/authors can join this network and share their blog posts, books, etc. to get a wider reach. They also have interest-based groups for writers with chat facility, among others. Muvi Cafe, a site about latest movies, news, etc. is their latest venture.

Each of us got a chance to introduce ourselves and our blogs. Earlier in the day, we were given a small sticker and were asked to write our name and something describing us. My entry was: “Rajesh, Sustainable-Living enthusiast”. Sustainable principles follow panromo illayo, yella edathulayum sollika vendiyathu 😛

Don’t you think a bicycle-themed cafe is a good idea? This coffee shop is a collaboration between TI Cycles and Absolute restaurant. So, you can eat/drink and… buy cycles! The cycles displayed here cost from 16K to a few lakhs! I am inspired to buy a cycle myself — an ungeared cycle to start with, maybe.

Do you ride bicycles? It offers many benefits 🙂

I cannot even think of it. I should check if Hercules MTB is still available, at least in second hand, and grab it 🙂

I want to visit this cafe from the time I know about it… this is very pretty and cool idea to open a shop in theme of cycles. If we visit this cafe in a cycle, it seems they do free service to our cycle. I just wondering will they do free service for my wheelchair in that way, if I visited! 🙂

Thanks for the photos on its ambiance. Cycling is a very healthy activity and I wish people take it serious to drive around.

Yes, it’s a cool idea indeed. I didn’t know about the free service for cycles. Do visit sometime when you are free 🙂

It is really good that you met fellow bloggers.
I love riding cycle. I used to go to tuition in my school on my cycle. How I miss those days!

Yea, I too am reminded of those days. Maybe it’s time to relive some of those memories by buying and riding a cycle…
