Bloggers Meet after a Long Time
Pradeep of Time & Tide was in Chennai earlier this week. I have been following his blog for some time now so we thought it might be a good idea to meet and get to know the person behind the words. Besides, it’s been ages since any bloggers meet happened.
Since I am not able to travel much due to sciatica, I requested him to come to our house and he graciously accepted. I, my wife, and my mother met Pradeep and his wife. Turns out all of us were/are connected with writing in one way or another!
I think we spoke for a couple of hours but never realized how time flew so quickly. This was like an oasis in the desert as we’ve been having next-to-zero social interactions – the situation accentuated due to the pandemic as well.
There was a time when there were abundant bloggers’ meets and interactions with bloggers on social media, etc. After all, all bloggers can easily connect over their common passion for writing. Nowadays only bloggers who are really passionate about their craft are still writing – so that’s a good reason to (re)form a blogger’s social network.
Maybe we need something like GoodReads for bloggers. I am sure people are doing this already on a personal level, but a more interactive platform is required. Even our previously extremely active chennai bloggers club facebook group is relatively silent.
Anyway, I take this opportunity to thank Pradeep and his wife for taking the time and efforts to travel across the city (from where they were staying) to meet us. It was a great evening 🙂

I’m glad to hear about your meeting with the blogger, and yes, it’s been a long time since I heard about any bloggers’ meeting. At the same time, I remember our meeting last time at your house; I too haven’t met anyone after that. I came close to arranging for a couple of friends to meet at my home, but the chances weren’t favorable. Yes, blogger interaction is sorely missing these days, and blogging itself has come down now, but I still feel connected to blogs more than any other medium. Perhaps because I started a blog first before any other social media entered the scene. Hope your meeting contained
Ya, only passionate writers like us blog nowadays. I know, you’ve been blogging way before even I started. I too have not been meeting anyone nowadays, that’s why this meetup was special.

Thanks Rajesh, for putting up this post. My post is getting delayed. After my return from Chennai I was caught up lots of pending work. My account of Chennai trip itself isn’t over; at least a couple of more posts are remaining.
Needless to say, it was great meeting up with you. And thank you to you, your wife and mother for such a warm hospitality at your home.
You are right, the bloggers meets have become so uncommon these days. I guess we must all try make it happen, whenever it is possible. May not be a big number, but even if a few can meet up that is good enough.
Ya, I am reading your Chennai series posts. Glad that you took the time and effort to visit us.

Ya, such an opportunity of meeting anyone has come after a couple of years I guess!

Hi Rakesh – that’s wonderful Pradeep and his wife were able to get to meet you … people decry us, yet the blogging community connects so easily … I’ve met a couple over the years … and started with a group 15 years ago in the States, whom I’m ‘vaguely’ in touch with – everytime we come across each other. I’m sure you two will be in touch regularly now – take care and all the best – cheers Hilary
Thanks for your comment. I find it easier to connect with bloggers and even authors – I have met many over the years. Nowadays people network over social media, but these are more of a casual connection. Blogging can get deep.
