Ban AI *Now* before Millions Lose Jobs
I too thought AI was this inevitable evolutionary tech advancement required for improving our efficiency. But, no. There is a crucial difference between other technologies before, and AI:
Until now No technology could Learn and Think on its own.
If that doesn’t drive my point, hear it straight: AI not just improves our efficiencies, but it Replaces our Brain.
Our ability to think and learn is our biggest and unique strength. That’s the reason why we have been the dominant species on earth.
Now we are training our replacement in AI that’s better, faster, and cheaper than us.
If that doesn’t sound like a death knell, I wonder what will?
For example, look at the field in which I work: AI Video Creation.
Today, AI is so advanced that, with AI assisted workflows (mostly prompts) people can make an entire movie without actors, scriptwriters, voiceover artists, music directors, VFX artists, etc.
Let that sink in for a moment.
A movie that could cost crores to make can now be done in a few thousands, all by AI.
Agreed that the quality is not good enough yet. But the speed at which AI is learning and thinking, it will make better movies that us within a couple of years. Max.
Imagine how many technicians in the movie industry are going to lose their jobs due to AI.
If my analysis is right, it’s the same situation across industries as AI is everywhere. Already.
So, we are on our way to replacing millions of service industry jobs as Anything that is done on a computer can be done by AI – Soon.
Do you realize how big a tragedy that is for the humankind?
I am not even imagining the scenario when AI will take over the world from us, etc. It doesn’t have to do all that to displace us. Just making us jobless will do.
Will we act only after the damage is done?

It starts with augmenting human work. But eventually, if nothing stops AI to learn everything that a human can do on a computer, it will learn. The greedy investors and top management will make sure it learns to reduce employee-related expenses.

AI looks quite different from many other tech innovations of the past. Banning AI will mean missing out on the advantages that AI has. Every invention has helped human beings — starting with the knife or wheel or fire — has its own downsides. We will have to figure out how to get around the flipside and take full advantage of the positive aspects.
Taking full advantage of the positive aspects will result in millions of job losses.
