A Blogger’s Fantasy

After creating (and publishing) a master-piece of a blog-post, I went to relax in my favorite cafe in the town. Though it was quite far away from my house, I loved theΒ ambiance, quietness and the friendly staff. I was looking at the menu card, when a couple entered the venue. On noticing me, they discussed something among themselves and approached me.
“You are Destination Infinity, right?”
“Yes, are you familiar with Destination Infinity blog?”
“Oh, we are regular readers of your blog. In fact, many of our friends, colleagues, relatives, etc. are also your fans. We are so glad that we were able to meet you in person”
” π “
“The post that you just published before an hour is a master-piece. We were discussing about it while coming here”
” π “
Actually, we are going to Italy next week. While speaking to one of our friends for accommodation, he asked us if we knew Destination Infinity. Now we can proudly say we do π “
” π They read my blog in Italy? But do people know English, there?”
“Many people do. But even people who don’t, translate your blog through Google Translate and read it. It seems, your blog is more popular than some of the German, French and Italian blogs in Europe. People feel that you need to translate your blog and officially publish it in all major European languages”
” π “
“May we join you for coffee?”
“Of course. And the bill is on me”
” π . Thank God we brought our slam book along with us. Can you autograph it for us, please?”
” π My pleasure π “
“Since you are such a popular blogger, do you get mobbed for your autograph?”
“Well, I guess it has certainly started now”
“If it’s not a secret, can you share how much money you make from your blog, every month? Is it in the million $ range?”
“Well…”
“1000’s of $”
“Well…”
“100’s?”
“…”
“10’s?”
“…”
“Actually, money is never an important factor in a field such as blogging. After all, you are a super-influencer”
“Absolutely”
“So, how many hits do you receive in a month? Billions?”
“Well…”
“100,000’s?”
“…”
“10,000’s?”
“..”
“That’s fine. It’s the quality that matters and not the quantity, right?”
“Absolutely”
“But then, you would surely agree that your blog is potentially worth millions of $ and billions of hits?”
“Well, I wouldn’t rule out that possibility”
“We wouldn’t either. But there is an issue…”
“What?”
“With your increasing world-wide influence, you might make powerful enemies in the media, politics, etc. They might most probably use the Mafia against you”
“Oh no…”
“Don’t worry. In the gulf, they employ guards from the US to protect their oil-fields, etc. We can recommend the same-level of security to you, through our contacts”
“Oh, that’s great”
“By the way, we would also like to give you one more suggestion. Take a life insurance, when you are less-popular. The premium will be low now. But once you become more popular, the premium might increase astronomically…”
“Excellent suggestion”
“We can recommend the best life insurance policy for you. You can consider our company products, for instance”
“Your company insurance? Where do you work?”
“XYZ Insurance company!!!”
“!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Ada pavingala, ippo ippadiyum arambichitingala?????? (Have you started like this also, now??????) π

Nice read ! π
they are indeed the best marketers – this reminds me of a short story in Sudha Moorthy’s Wise and OtherWise – where a young girl would take with Sudha Moorthy so much that she will get an headache and the young girl would give her some balm – where the girl is working as a sales rep.
Keep Smiling

You have got good sense of humour…Enjoyed reading this! You used to write this type of posts often, until a few years back, I remember!
Yeah, back then the stories were more serious and I tried to insert some message. But people seem to like humour!! So, if I get any ideas maybe I’ll write some more humourous stuff!
Destination Infinity
Ha ha ha fantastic…I like the fantasy..
Hmmm… Except the insurance part, the other-side of the fantasy is nice, na? π
