Ellora Caves, Maharashtra, West India. These are a group of rock-cut monuments consisting of 34 cave structures excavated out of the vertical face of Charanandri hills. They were built by Rashtrakutas (mostly) in between 5 – 10 CE. There were living quarters, sleeping quarters, rooms, kitchens, Hindu/Buddhist/Jain Temples, etc. within these multi-story carved monuments.
