Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom (Tamil Movie Review)
[usr=3]
Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom (NKPK) is a Tamil movie released in 2012. I had the opportunity to see this movie and then participate in an interactive Q & A session with the director, Balaji.
This movie is about a person who loses his memory just 2 days before his marriage (short term memory loss – he forgets all the events that happened over the last one year). It happens due to an injury in his spinal cord (while playing cricket). The issue is, he fell in love with the girl whom he is about to marry, but he is not able to recognize her after the injury as he met her during that one year. Three of his friends, who played the cricket match with him try to get him married (without telling his family or fiancee), in spite of his memory loss. Will they be successful in their efforts, is the story.
I thought the first half was a bit of a drag with “Enna aachi…” being repeated again and again by the hero. After the first few times, this almost becomes an irritation to the audience. I wonder why the editor didn’t cut off at least half of those utterances. But the second half was interesting and was well filmed. Even though what happens in the end is not believable, I guess that’s the best they could do with a story like this.
The story is interesting enough and the movie uses humor quite well to keep the audience engaged. The action, especially by the lead actors (including the hero), is very good. If the first half did not drag so much, this would have been a better movie. Not having any songs has worked for this movie – I think it will work for most (realistic) movies!
It seems this movie is based on a real-life incident. The first half is true story of the camaraman (of this movie). But, in reality, he was affected one week before marriage, not two days. The second half is fiction – interesting, but not convincing.
A nice, casual, and different movie. You can see it once.

I enjoyed watching this film! quite hilarious
Yes, the humor was good, but the first half dragged a bit. Otherwise it’s a good movie.

I felt the other way. When ever Vijay Sethupathi starts ‘enna acchi’ i was ROFL. I completely enjoyed the movie , esp his friends expressions was very funny.
Any way nice review.
I think that expression was over used in the first half. Maybe my patience is declining with age!
