The best home bakers of Chennai – The Baker Showcase!
The Baker Showcase held on Feb 02, 2013 at Greams Road (Asan Memorial School) brought forward some of the best home bakers of Chennai together for The Baker Showcase event! That means, a lot of innovative and awesome cakes, pastries, bakes and confectioneries for food-lovers to buy and eat π
It seems, the Baker showcase is held once in 4 months somewhere in Chennai and this event brings around 15 well-known home bakers of Chennai on a single platform. Most of these bakers regularly make and supply such items to friends/relatives and even general public (on request or if stocks are available) throughout the year.
You’ll not be able to find most of these items in regular bakeries/shops. Don’t think that home bakers means they may not be professional, they are. Many of them have their own facebook pages/websites where you can see what is available and order online/over phone/by email. You can also drop in by their house to pick up something and large orders will be delivered/couriered to your house.
I did ask one of the bakers on why they don’t have their own shop and she told me that setting up a shop in Chennai (that too in a relatively posh area) requires a lot of investment, besides govt. procedures/man power/maintenance, etc. Hence they want to make it in their homes and supply to people who are interested. You can also contact them if you want custom-made cakes, etc.
I have provided the Name/Facebook page/Contact details of the home bakers who participated in this fest, below. You can contact them (contact details provided in their facebook page/site linked to, below), if you require any special pastries, etc. in Chennai.

Howwwwwwwzzzzzzzzzzzz iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttt? I can see that you are already wide-eyed, open-mouthed and full of envy. Just know that it gives me immense satisfaction π I have some more pictures, but I don’t want to put it here. Otherwise, you might die of jealousy π π π

Pictures totally droolworthy….u must have had the time of ur life maskafying all the ladies into giving you goodies to eat π
Oh, convincing me to eat goodies is very easy. The only thing that will convince me otherwise is non-availability of the wallet! That’s why I don’t take it when I go for walking, sometimes π

How many did you eat? They are gorgeously delicious looking but frightfully expensive.
Fortunately, I had set a budget for myself going into the hall and i overshooted it only by a little amount. Sometimes, I can surprise myself π

Yummy. Yummy. Yummy. Send me some via Fedex.
I thought DHL Global Mail was cheaper. Even then, I cannot send you anything because I have already finished eating everything π

WOW! That looks so yummy! I am falling in love with pastries like never before. The concept of making all this at home in your comfort (which is a must for baking amongst so many other activities) makes a lot of sense. Some home bakers come out with such beautiful frosting, it is a joy to watch!
I need to try baking someday. Wonder what’s so exciting about it? π

Yes, you really made me envy, checking an awesome showcase of baker items and taste on relish, and throwing pictures as wrappers on us! π Looks like canβt satisfy with one or twoβ¦ wish I had them all. The cars and plane chocolates are unique! Yummy
I should have bought that plane chocolate. Missed it! π

You are a real foodie, D.I.! Everything looks so beautiful that many of them don’t look edible!
Thank god, I am not a chocolate lover!
I am not a chocolate lover too. I will not buy it. But I eat chocolates occasionally. Like if someone buys and keeps chocolates in our fridge. Then I will eat it π

mouth watering .. i feel like getting into the pics and eating all of them .. i wonder why such things do not happen here in pune and how do you come to know about all these events?
Such events should be happening in every city. Check out the newspapers (and supplements) regularly. They have a separate section for events.
