Thanjavur Big Temple

Brihadeeswarar Temple is located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, South India. Constructed in the early 11th Century, this Temple is a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site “Great Living Chola Temples”. The Temple Tower/Vimana is 66 meter high and the Kalasha (topmost part) built using a single 80 Tonne stone, was taken up using an inclined slope starting from 3 miles away! The entire Temple was built using 1,80,000 Tonnes of granite by the famous Chola emperor – Rajaraja Chola I.
