Sher Shah Suri Tomb

Sher Shah Suri Tomb, Sasaram, Bihar, East India, is a UNESCO World Heritage monument built by Sher Shah Suri himself, and completed by his son Islam Shah, in 1545 CE. The octagonal tomb is made of red sandstone and is situated at the center of a man-made square lake. From being the son of a normal Jagirdar, Sher Shah Suri defeated the Mughal Empire (Humayun) and ruled India for a short period of 5 years. His administrative, building and revenue collection methodologies helped Akbar build a strong central structure, later on. More.. 1, 2.
