Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh, North India. Founded in 1569 by the Mughal Emperor Akbar, this city was the capital of Mughal empire from 1571 to 1585. Fatehpur Sikri is a planned walled-city and contains a series of well-preserved palaces, courts, Mosques and other utility buildings that offers us a fine glimpse into the Mughal architecture that combined both Persian and Indian styles. After 1585 it was abruptly abandoned and hence the city resembles a ghost town today, with many buildings but no inhabitants. More…
