Do you have a designer bookshelf?
Most bookshelves I see are pretty boring. Rarely, books get their own bookshelves — a rectangular wooden box with compartments and glass doors. Otherwise they are kept on the shelves in the wall, especially when there is nothing else to go into it. Of course, books are also kept in showcases or in TV stand shelves, mostly as an afterthought, once people have stuffed it with all their beautiful dolls and kids’ paintings.
The bookshelf in my house is inside a closed shelf in my room — so we don’t even have one! I wonder how many readers have a prominent bookshelf at home. Do you?
Don’t you think it’s high time books get their own *visible* place at homes? I mean, we give so much importance to education nowadays, and books are a living proof of all the knowledge we have gained. Don’t you think it’s fair to show them off?
In style.
Welcome to the era of designer bookshelves.
The issue is, nowadays, I read only e-books on my Kindle and Mobile phone. I don’t buy books. So that makes the books I already have, even more precious. Another reason to have a bold and stylish bookshelf.
You thought these stylish bookshelves and comfortable chairs are only for families? With the kind of money bachelors are earning nowadays, many are building their own homes. The bookworms among them might very well be interested in having designer bookshelves that stand out.
One more thing I want to do is — buy a comfortable chair for reading/listening to books. Do you remember the rocking chair of those days? Or the easy chair? Am not sure if I’ll find such chairs nowadays — time to visit a few shops and find out.Β Recently I saw a small swing that stands on the floor, not hung from the wall above. That might make an interesting place to read and can be comfortably moved around, if required.
Have a look at a few designer bookshelves. Cool, aren’t they π

Do you have a separate bookshelf to keep all your books? Is it visible to guests or do you keep them inside a closed shelf?

We have loads and loads of books in our home. My daddy keeps his books in a wooden shelves with glass doors.
Its high time people invested in books. I loved the Switch type of book shelf.
Wow, cool. We have very few books here, that too closed inside a cupboard! Need to make them more visible.

A Kindle stand?
A Kindle stand can only display the Kindle eReader. How to display the various eBooks? π

Back home I used to own a bookshelf, but the regular wooden one. These designs are so stylishly made. Loved each of them.
Yes, I too liked these bookshelves. Hope to install something like this in my home in the future π

We have got a traditional bookshelf at home, since we moved to our own place.
I have never seen bookshelves like the ones you have displayed here! Interesting! Like you say, the computer and kindle have killed books!
The content is the same with books or eBooks, just that we can’t proudly display them in stylish bookshelves like these. But if eBooks result in lesser trees being cut and lesser space requirement, I guess it’s fine.

Aha! Those are some real cool bookshelves. I liked the 360 degree the most!
I just have a big glass almirah for my books. Time to change, I guess π
Good that you have a dedicated bookshelf, that too with glass to show off the books. I need one!

Beautiful place and photos, and we rarely find time to keep up with them. Glad you listed this one π

I love quirky bookshelves designs π These shelves look good for the number of books they can hold. I have a massive collection which cannot be accommodated like this!
Oh, then you need a book-house, not a bookshelf π

I dont have a book shelf. Most of the designer shelves like the ones you have shown, are open. And I feel like the book may catch dust easily. I want them to be closed and I dont like what I am offered. So for the time being, the books are resting in a grandfather almirah… I think i like that – a storehouse of knowledge secured nicely…
regarding chair, i desperately want one!
Just go to a nearby furniture shop and buy a chair π
I too like those old wooden almirahs (sadly we don’t have any), especially to hold books. They make us feel nostalgic π

These are very cool and creative bookshelves and I too have seen many bookshelves in furniture websites and I was also looking for one from very long time and still postponed. And also confused with so many model. But should decide soon.
Take your time… you are going to buy bookshelf only once, it might as well be a good one π
