My Top 5: 200 to 350cc Bikes for Long Rides
I have a 150cc bike – Bajaj Avenger 150 Street. But that’s been with me for the last five years, so I am thinking if I might want to buy another bike. I thought maybe I could opt for 200-300cc bikes this time.
My Top 5 Bike Choices for 200 to 350cc Bikes for City & Long Rides (Both)
#1.. TVS Zeppelin
The TVS Zeppelin or Ronin or whatever it is going to be called is a yet-to-be-released 220cc cruiser bike from TVS. It’s got killer looks and the right engine power to give a decent mileage. It’s even got a dashcam built right into the bike. If no other bike as exciting as this gets launched, this one will be my first choice…
#2.. BMW G310R
There is only one reason why I would buy the BMW G310R – the BMW logo. I rarely make my choices based on brand value, but so far, this bike is my second choice. The red-alloy wheels version‘s got killer looks and at 315cc, it’s a decent all-rounder for both city use as well as highway use.
#3.. Suzuki Gixxer SF250
Watch this video ad of the Suzuki SF 250. I was mighty impressed by the silver colour full-fairing version shown in it. Currently this is my third choice, but frankly, there is no reason NOT to keep this bike at the top of this list. Let’s see if Suzuki launches its dual-cylinder 300cc version with bs6 upgrade. It can only get more exciting from here… other bikes beware 🙂
#4.. Yamaha FZ25
The Yamaha FZ25‘s got everything – the lowest cost, the highest mileage, the Japanese quality, proven reliability… But there is something that’s stopping me from opting for this bike – especially for the highway. Maybe if the company releases another version of this bike with windshield, backrest, etc., and markets it as highway king, I may be sold.
#5… Various Other Options
My fifth option is not one, but various bikes…
The RE Meteor, RE Interceptor or even the upcoming RE Roadster are all great options – except for their massive heights and weights. If RE makes one bike in the 700mm saddle height and 150 Kg range, I will be their first customer.
KTM Duke 250/390 is always positioned as a street/adventure model. Never as a tourer. I wish KTM makes and markets at least one bike for touring purposes. Otherwise, they make some good bikes.
I am avoiding Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise/Dominar 250/400 because I already have the Bajaj 150 Street and I don’t want to buy another bike from the same manufacturer. Don’t ask me why. Frankly, I don’t have many complaints about it, but there is nothing exciting about it as well.
Honda CB350 ‘Highness’ is another retro bike (although it’s the first from Honda) that I don’t want. I want modern-looking lighter cruiser-style bikes, not retro. Let’s see if Honda brings its more exciting models from the international market anytime soon.
I hope for more exciting new bike launches in 2021. What’s your choice? Comment away…
