2024 Flower Show @ Semmozhi Poonga (Chennai)
We visited the Kalaignar Centenary Flower Show (Feb. 2024) at Semmozhi Poonga, Chennai yesterday. The above-embedded video contains details and a few photos from the event.
Dates: Feb. 10 to Feb. 19, 2024.
Timings: 10 A.M. to 6 P.M.
Venue: Semmozhi Poonga, Chennai (Google Maps link).
Entrance Ticket Cost: Rs. 150 for Adults, Rs. 75 for Kids (5-12 Years).
As usual, the flower decorations were excellent. This time, the flowers were spread across a huge area – 4 acres of the Semmozhi Poonga Park. In addition to flower arrangements, they had people showing how to do pottery, flower bokeh arrangement, face/palm painting, etc.
I thought the ticket cost was quite high, but managing an event of this scale, even for the Govt, should’ve been a difficult task. This cost is nothing when compared to visiting Ooty or Kodai to watch the flower show!
After coming out of the exhibition, there are a number of food stalls. But our experience with some items here was not good – both cost and quality-wise. Surprisingly, for a flower show, there is no stall selling pots, plants or seeds.
I loved the exhibit of the vintage car decorated with flowers. That was my favourite.
Do visit the show – you’ll love the experience. If time permits, do one more round without taking photos and videos too.

No, it’s owned by a Govt. Dept. Horticulture Dept, I think.

This is very nice. There is a similar flower show in Bengaluru’s Lal Bagh. Wanted to go this year. But couldn’t make it.
I’ve been to Lalbagh Flower show many years earlier. It’s a wonderful display of flower arrangement 🙂
