Meenakshi Amman Temple, Tamil Nadu, South India is located in the historic city of Madurai. Although this Temple has been in existence for more than 2000 years and has been mentioned in Tamil Sangam literature, the current structure was built during 17 CE. There are 4 entrances to the Temple & 10 Gopurams (Towers) – the largest tower measures over 50 meters in height. Among other attractions, there is a thousand pillared hall, musical pillars, Senthamarai Kulam (Pond) and a sculpture museum inside the premises. This Temple is named after Godess Parvati. More…
