Veg. South Indian Restaurant @ Royapettah: Maamis Samayal, Regenta Central Deccan

Recently we got an opportunity to visit Maami Samayal restaurant @ Regenta Central Deccan Hotel, Royapettah, Chennai. (Google Maps link) The above-embedded video gives a few glimpses into the restaurant and the food offered there. The video also features a short interview with the main chef – Ms. Padma.

If you are in Chennai or if you are visiting Chennai on a business/personal trip, it’s a good idea to taste authentic South Indian dishes made by South Indians at this restaurant.

Currently, they offer traditional Brahmin-style lunch with rice, sambar, rasam, sweet, poriyal (vegetables), papad, dosa, side-dishes, and other items. It seems they also offer many types of South Indian traditional tiffin items in the late evenings.

The cook is a very friendly person as you can see in the video and she interacts with most customers and takes their feedback. Some customers even call her to find out what’s cooking for lunch or dinner as she changes the menu every day.

So please do visit and let know your experience in the comments below. Don’t forget to watch the video embedded above.

Sure. But when you come to Chennai, you should visit us also. It’s a rare priviledge to meet fellow bloggers whom we know only through blogs! I had an opportunity to meet SG when he came to Chennai a few years back, hope to get lucky with you too 🙂

The head cook whom I interviewed had a lot of passion for health and cooking. I feel that always makes a difference for the better. The lunch we ate was indeed good!
