    ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ Movie Review

‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ Telugu movie review. It’s a difficult task to review movies like these. At one side, they hold the viewer’s attention successfully and entertain us. So paisa-vasool. But on the other side, there is absolutely no attempt to be even slightly realistic. I understand it’s difficult esp. with a super-hero like Mahesh Babu. I now understand why there are no super-heroes like Batman, Super Man, etc. in India. Our heroes are as good as, or even better than, fantasy characters abroad. Maybe we prefer to live our fantasies realistically? Hmm… 🙂 Destination Infinity PS: The story goes like this: An Indian-born youth (Mahesh Babu), educated in London for…

First Indian (Tamil) Space Movie: Tik Tik Tik

Our fan video for Tik Tik Tik (above). Courtesy wowsuper.net. OK, let’s admit that Tik Tik Tik is not the first Indian movie set outside the earth – in the space. Two earlier movies, one Tamil movie starring MGR and one Hindi movie were primarily set in the space, way back in the 1960s. Two more films, Chanda Mama Door Ke and Aamir Khan’s biopic on Rakesh Sharma are also set in space, but they are yet to be made and released. In the meanwhile, the Kollywood Padam Tik Tik Tik starring Jayam Ravi and Nivetha Pethuraj should get the honor of being the first Indian movie set (predominantly) in…

    Thupparivaalan Movie Review

Thupparivalan is a Tamil movie directed by the popular director Mysskin. I have seen two other movies made by him – Onayum Aattukuttiyum & Pisasu and liked both. So I wanted to see this movie too. One thing that sets Mysskin apart from other directors is his gripping narrative style. You cannot think of taking your eyes off the screen even for a moment, although the story is average, the plot has a lot of holes and inconsistencies, there are no songs, the fights are artificial and, For the first time, there is so much gore and violence. Pisasu and Onayum Aattukuttiyum, in contrast, were movies that had the potential to…

Our hassles of watching Vivegam FDFS

FDFS = First Day First Show. This post is not the movie review for Vivegam. Click on the prev. link if you wanna read that. This post is about the hassles we faced while trying to watch Vivegam FDFS. Actually, I didn’t watch it FDFS – I’ll come to that part later. Around four days before the launch of the Tamil movie starring Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar, I and Ramya decided that we want to see Vivegam FDFS. So I checked for tickets online, but most of the theaters were houseful for the first three days. Amazingly, we found a few tickets only in one theater. The show was at 11:59.…

Why are ppl upset with Kaatru Veliyidai movie?

My guess as to why (some) people may be upset with Mani Rathnam’s latest Tamil movie Kaatru Veliyidai – Men are upset because the lead character is shown to be chauvinistic. Since people tend to idealize the hero, they are unable to accept imperfection. Besides, since men are chauvinistic in general (degree might differ) they get angry when their own (undesirable) trait is highlighted. Women are upset because they are unable to associate one among them (heroine) falling head over heels for a chauvinistic man in spite of knowing about his chauvinism. They feel that no woman should do such an illogical thing. Movie review: The story is weak and slow-moving. Karthi’s…

Fan Movie Review: Hopeless!! Did SRK Write the script?

Fan Movie Review: Hopeless!! SRK has managed to look younger, and has also tried to act with the passion that possessed him during the Darr/Baazigar days. He managed to mask his age, but failed to mask the superficiality of his emotions. The older SRK was believable in some scenes, though. To me, this movie is a HUGE letdown, irrespective of what his fanboys/publications might claim. I suspect if the script was written by SRK himself. Only then, a movie can become such a mess. Even Rajni’s Baba was better! The first half is totally unnecessary. We’ve seen that in many movies before. The second half showed promise, but was totally…
